KBR Jobs in Iraq: LOGCAP Work Conditions
If you apply for KBR jobs in Iraq through their career site, you might decide to use their Resume Builder. The first thing you would need to do is agree to their terms and conditions. I bet most people don’t read them, but just click on I Agree and continue. But as I was working on an article this morning, I read through the whole statement and found some very interesting information tucked away at the bottom.
I am including parts of it here for you from the section called LOGCAP WORK ENVIRONMENT TERMS and CONDITIONS. This is taken exactly as written there. Read more
6 Tips to Use Social Networking More Effectively to Find Your Next Job
On October 28, 2010 I left my last job and had a number of interviews lined up by November 4, 2010. A month later, during a 7 day period, I had 6 serious inquiries into my availability with the result of 2 second interviews and 1 job offer. In a few weeks I will most likely return to Iraq with a significant pay increase. How did I do it? I used online social networking.

One common aggravation I overheard was how much time was spent on filling out applications only to never receive feedback one way or another on the position. Read more
Think twice about contacting recruiters directly
Let me pass along a piece of friendly advice to anyone who wants to shortcut the application system and contact a recruiter directly: don’t. Quite frankly, it isn’t going to increase your chances of selection. In fact, it can even hurt your job hunt.
Where to find “non-traditional” overseas contracting jobs
Washington Technology recently published its Top 100 Government Contractors list. One of the sidebar stories for the list was called Contractors find fertile fields abroad which talked about some of the contractors who were having success supporting the United States Agency of International Development and similar organizations. This led me to think about the opportunities available overseas that aren’t usually what people think of when looking for contracting jobs.
According to the article: “Each year, according to the USAID website, the agency awards approximately $4 billion in federal contracts, grants and cooperative agreements to U.S. contractors, primarily for technical assistance but also for commodities, equipment, transportation and humanitarian services.” Read more
